The One with La-La-La-Lava!

Do you know Steve’s Lava Chicken Song?

Today we can learn this using the WHITE notes on a piano (or a set of white note chime bars or a glockenspiel).

Sometimes the different COLOURS can help us find notes, but music notes are actually named after the first SEVEN letters of the alphabet.

Can you say the FIRST SEVEN LETTERS OF THE ALPHABET?

A  B  C  D  E  F  G

Music notes keep going … look at this pattern:

A  B  C  D  E  F  G  A  B  C  D  E  F  G A  B C  ….

What comes next?

Each WHITE note on a piano has a letter name.

The pattern on a keyboard keeps repeating.

There is also an activity HERE that you can print out to help you practise naming the piano keys.

There is also a funny song that helps. It is called ‘C Is to the Left of the Two Black Notes’.

STEVE’S LAVA CHICKEN SONG:

This starts on the note ‘D’. Can you work it out for yourself? It starts:

D  D D F D          D  D  D  F  D
